Rare sighting

Hi everyone. Happy Holidays! As many of you know I have a passion for wildlife photography. I was recently priviliged to have a chance to photograph the bird that currently sits at the top of my "birds I really want to photograph" list: The Pileated Woodpecker. This is the largest woodpecker in North America (unless the rumours of the long-thought extinct Ivory Billed Woodpecker sightings in Arkansas prove to be true) and makes rare appearances in dense forest areas. You can sometimes hear their tell-tell pounding echoing through the woods. This was a perfect setting. We had just had about a foot of snow fall in our area this previous weekend, and this served as a nice contrast to his flaming red crest. It was truly an early holiday treat. I want to say thanks to my friend Jimmy for calling me and telling me that he'd spotted this magnificent bird, and I also want to thank the Schiff family for allowing me to photograph on their property. Happy holidays!

Athina's 10th birthday party!

My daughter Athina turned ten this past Thursday, and we had her birthday party today at Adirondack Stables in West Chazy, NY. She had lots of friends and family there. All of the girls who came to her party got to groom and ride a horse. They also played games and had pizza and cake. I am attaching some pictures from the party.

Remembering Costa

Recently one of my favorite people in the world past away. Bella's uncle Costa. When I first began dating my wife Bella, her mom had some natural concerns regarding cultural differnces. Costa and his companion of many years Eileen were insturmental in encouraging Bella's mom to give me a shot. Costa displayed a lot of faith in me when he barely new me, and I always respected him for that. Several friends and family members recently gathered at a restaurant in Montreal to celebrate Costa's life. I am attaching a photo of everyone there. I will truly miss him at our family gatherings. I along with the many, many others who loved him will remember him always.

Time Flies

Hi everyone. Man time sure does fly. It has been a very busy summer. I've been so busy that I haven't been able to post any recent pics to the family blog. Melina has grown quite a bit since the last pictures that I put on. So here are some recent shots to hold over all of you babypicture-oholics (smile).

Getting ready for the 4th!

I spent most the day today with Athina picking up supplies for the 4th of July tomorrow. We have a wonderful parade every year in our community, and kids compete for prizes such as best costume, bike and so forth. So needless to say Bella and I spent a lot of time getting her all set for the parade. Bella worked on decorating a T-shirt for her to wear, and I took care of the bike. I'll probably try to post a picture when it is all done. I did have lunch with a new wedding client today. The wedding is for next year. I have quite a few booked for next year already! Anyway that's all for now.

Published in the Press!

Today, our local newsapaper the press republican printed one of my "bald eagle" pictures in the outdoor wildlife section of the newspaper. This is the second time that they have published one of my photographs. They printed one of my osprey pictures earlier this year. Bald Eagles like to sit in trees with a good view of the water. In this picture which was taken in March of this year, the eagle was perched high in this tree near the lake.

Fishing Fun!

Today I went fishing with my dad. I caught 2 perch and 1 bass. Fishing is my favorite sport. My second favorite sport also has something to do with water too. Did you guess? It's swimming. Now I will show you some pictures of me and my fish.

Here's one of my perch!

Look at the size of this bass!

Beating the heat!

Last week we had a few days that topped out in the upper 90's. Our friends the Leonards were kind enough to let everyone come over and cool off in their pool. Here's a few pics from the day.
